In collaboration with Blok Build, CSI has produced steelwork for a garden that went on to achieve Silver Award success at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The garden, entitled Gardening Will Save The World, was created by Tom Dixon and IKEA. On first impression, the garden looks like a natural hillside landscape but on closer inspection, a subterranean, futuristic and high-tech garden is at play. The garden explores the future of growing and eating. Food is a crucial part of everyday life and together, Tom Dixon and IKEA created the garden to explore how we can provide sustainable, affordable and forward-thinking solutions that people can use to grow food at home and beyond.
CSI's work included the large steel KRB structure which incorporated the the staircase and handrail system along with the roman arch display.
After the Chelsea Flower Show, the garden is being donated to the charity Participatory City and moved to Barking and Dagenham in East London. Sections of the garden will be recreated at The Warehouse, the largest public makerspace in London to inspire and enable more people to enjoy and learn about the importance of growing food locally.
