The Skystation by Peter Newman at The South Bank is an interactive public sculpture, inspired by Le Corbusier’s LC4 chaise-longue, that also acts as a piece of public seating. CSI were appointed to manufacture and install the aluminium sculpture comprising of 6no cast and polished sections supported by an unseen stainless steel substructure. Due to size and contours of the individual sections the design and manufacture of the mould in particular was found to be challenging. The sections were cast in the UK and polished by hand which took about 1100 hours to complete.
