This design and build project which featured on Restoration Man involved the restoration and conversion of the railway water tower at Settle Station on the World famous Settle-Carlisle Line. Apart from the desired use of local trades and materials/ historical components salvaged from site, the project deliverables relied on a broad range of sympathetically designed prefabricated components such as the steel complex staircases with cantilevered glass balustrading, Curtain walling and cladding allowed a fully glazed “room on the roof” volumetric module to be hoisted into the tank space for immediate use. Despite initial planning and heritage concerns the project was well received by all involved.
